Halpewatte (Uva Region)

Halpewatte Tea is a Pure Ceylon Tea. It is a single estate tea that comes from the Uva ‘high’ tea growing region of Sri Lanka. These Broken Orange Pekoe 1 teas are popularly known for their minty notes and fresh after taste.

This region is best known for its uniqueness in climate that does something astounding to the tea plants. Warm days and cold nights cause a disruption to the tea plant’s natural process of photosynthesis. As a result, the chemical structure of the plants experience a natural alteration. This abnormal phenomenon gives teas from Uva region their distinctive natural minty/menthol flavour. Thereby making Uva teas to be generally highly sought after by tea connoisseurs all over the world.

Halpewatte tea factory is located 1230m above sea level. It is the largest tea producer in the Uva region and currently exports factory fresh unblended teas.

Ideal for an evening, best of its minty texture is preserved by brewing 1 to 2 teaspoons of tea in boiling water for 3 to 5 minutes and sipped without sugar.
